The way to peace can be a complicated journey. Every confronting event in my life involves a choice in how I will respond. I may just want to forget about it and try to get on with life. If I'm really hurt, it will be a lot easier to focus on the person who hurt me and think about what I'd like to happen to them! Or I may feel pressured to forgive, even though I'm not ready for that. Like so many Rwandese, Josephine lost many friends and family. Three years after the genocide, she was still full of painful memories. Fearful, struggling... But over the following months she startled everyone with the strength and creativity of her response. This is a little of Josephine's story. |
